In order to achieve these goals, the faculty at the school works diligently to foster student-centered learning.While it is not possible to cover every topic on the syllabus, it is possible to cover many essay topics. Essay topics are chosen in consultation with students, and although there are several general subject areas offered, students may choose to focus on specific topics. As a result, the various areas of focus at the school are not mutually exclusive.At the end of the year, students can elect to specialize in either one or more of the various topic areas covered in the essay topics section. Typically, a particular area will be presented during an interview, and students have an opportunity to select a specific topic of concentration during the course of the intervie w. Since so many students choose to specialize in different areas, however, it is very important that students take the time to carefully consider their decision.A very short essay is one that does not attempt to offer an extensive analysis of the essay topic. A very long essay will not be accepted by the school. If a student writes a very long essay, the student should know beforehand that the essay will not be accepted. Essays should not exceed four hundred and fifty words.Students should be able to demonstrate their ability to research and write within the guidelines set forth by the teacher. Some courses at the school require students to conduct extensive research on the topics they will be discussing. Students are expected to use a wide range of sources such as books, magazines, journals, government reports, and the Internet in order to support their arguments.Argumentative essays should present both supporting evidence that challenges the author's position. As such, it is very important that a student clearly states the foundation for his or her argument and how that statement is supported by specific facts.One other consideration is that the student has the opportunity to use the materials provided in the class in his or her final essay. The professor is not required to review the essay before giving it to the student, but it is always encouraged that the professor is given an opportunity to review the essay prior to grading it.The majority of students at the school are considered to be college-bound. Therefore, it is important that the students become involved in extracurricular activities. This means that the student must do his or her part and make an effort to find ways to get involved.
